On June 14, 2002, Prof. A. Denver Russell (1936-2004) bravely presented his teleclass lecture on quaternary ammonium compounds. Calling from a Japanese hotel room in the middle of the night, he battled a gauntlet of technological challenges (one of which proved to be terminal) and angry, sleepless hotel neighbors to present what inadvertently became our first ever attempt at an intercontinental teleclass lecture. It was an as-yet-unmatched-disaster!! Despite the negative experience though, he became a great friend of Teleclass Education (although he never gave another teleclass lecture himself). This A.D. Russell Memorial Teleclass lecture is intended to honour him and be presented on a topic that he would have found fascinating. It will be hosted by Prof. Syed Sattar of the University of Ottawa.
