Teleclass | (FREE British Teleclass Denver Russell Memorial Teleclass Lecture) INFECTION PREVENTION - ITS NOT JUST WASHING HANDS |
Outline: | Objectives: Discuss current issues in ...        - the levels of infection prevention and control        - the use of gloves        - ventilation in operating theatres        - decontamination of difficult items including intracavity ultrasonic probes and duodenoscopes On June 14, 2002, Prof. A. Denver Russell (1936-2004) bravely presented his teleclass lecture on quaternary ammonium compounds. Phoning in from a Japanese hotel room in the middle of the night, he battled a gauntlet of technological challenges (one of which proved to be terminal) and angry, sleepless hotel neighbours to present what inadvertently became our first ever attempt at an intercontinental teleclass lecture. It was an as-yet-unmatched-disaster!! Despite the negative experience he became a great friend of Teleclass Education (although he never gave another teleclass lecture). This A.D. Russell Memorial Teleclass lecture is intended to honour him and be presented on a topic that he would have found fascinating. It will be hosted by Denver's colleague, Prof. Jean-Yves Maillard of Cardiff University. |
