- Highlight some of the roles of the infection prevention and control (IPC) practitioner in the operating theatre
- Discuss microbiology aspects of operating theatre validation and verification, especially relating to ventilation
- Review what rituals, behaviours, and practices are important and which have an evidence base
- Emphasise the value of the IPC team as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to enhancing patient safety, and preventing infection in the operating theatre
