| Outline: | Objectives: - We are facing an escalating incidence of fungal infections and increasing resistance to anti fungal agents. To ensure optimal anti-fungal usage, stewardship initiatives are mandatory. Diagnostic stewardship, anti-fungal drug stewardship and infection control should all be used to tackle this issue. The lecture will highlight importance and methods of diagnosis, use of empiric and definitive anti-fungal therapy and issues of infection control. Approach to managing fungal infections in the immuno-competent and compromised patient to ensure optimal use of anti-fungal agents will be elaborated. |
